The best time to visit is generally from late May through October, when most roads and high-country trails are open and snow has receded from higher elevations. Summer brings warm days and cool nights, while spring and fall offer fewer crowds and vivid seasonal color. Winter transforms the parks into a snowy wonderland, with limited access but opportunities for snowshoeing and peaceful walks among sequoias draped in snow.
